Fleurieu Peninsula Family Holidays

It’s an Aussie tradition

Give your kids a taste of a real Aussie tradition and spend some time on a Fleurieu Peninsula beach.

We love long lazy days on the beach, bodysurfing, building sandcastles, eating ice-cream and scoffing fish and chips to top the day off.

Building sandcastles on Aldinga Beach, South Australia

Fleurieu Peninsula beaches are stunning. They offer hidden coves, pounding surf, diving reefs and golden sand. Horseshoe Bay, in historic Port Elliot, is a family favourite. You can even drive your car on some of our beaches.

Come for adventure

Looking for something to get your adrenalin pumping?

Visit Greenhills Adventure Park for water slides, climbing walls and flying foxes. Slip into your “combat gear” and have a go at paintball. Let the kids hand-feed kangaroos at Urimbirra Wildlife Park. After dark take them to Granite Island to watch the little penguins come ashore.

Ride the horse-drawn tram

The Victor Harbor to Granite Island horse-drawn tram is a living piece of South Australian history.
Spot stingrays gliding under the causeway or seals playing in the waves, as the big draft horses clip-clop along pulling this old double-decker!

About 18 kilometres (11 miles) from Victor Harbor, the majestic Murray River joins the sea at Goolwa. Make a day of it with a river cruise on the Oscar W paddle steamer before enjoying more steam power with a ride on the coast-hugging Cockle Train from Goolwa to Victor Harbor.

Joy flight or farm stay

If you reckon the Fleurieu Peninsula looks spectacular from ground level, just wait until you see it from the seat of a biplane!
You’ll love it so much you might decide to hang around a little longer. For something a little different, why not book a farm stay? The kids will see where food really comes from and they can even milk the cows.
