Adelaide City - Getting Here and Around
Plane, train or car
No matter how you get here, Adelaide; Australia’s most liveable city is easy to reach and easy to get around.
Seven kilometres from the city centre, a taxi ride from Adelaide Airport takes about ten minutes. There are regular shuttle buses.
Adelaide Airport is well serviced by major domestic and international airlines. All interstate trains use the Adelaide Parklands Terminal at Keswick. All interstate and regional coaches use the Central Bus Station in the city centre.
By car
Sitting in the middle of the continent, South Australia is a great place for a self-drive holiday. All major car rental companies have depots in Adelaide.
Walk
See the city sights on foot, the flat streets make Adelaide easy to walk. The visitor-friendly street layout means the only decision to make is which route to take.
Adelaide the cycling city
Pick up a free bike and make use of Adelaide’s network of dedicated bike lanes and paths. There are three Adelaide City Bikes’ depots around the city centre. They’ll even give you a helmet and bike lock.
Get around the city on the free City-Loop bus (99C), which runs frequently until about 6pm most days and 9pm on Fridays. The City-Loop service runs seven days a week.
A tram ride through the city’s heart is free
Hop on a city “shuttle tram” which operates between South Terrace and the City West Campus of the University of South Australia on North Terrace. Travel in either direction is free of charge.
“Tindo” is the world’s first solar-powered bus. Tindo travels between the city and North Adelaide and travel on Tindo is free.
Adelaide’s bus and train network will take you efficiently to your destination, most major tourist attractions are just minutes from the city.
Glenelg is Adelaide’s premier beachside resort. Jump on the tram and be there in around 30 minutes.
